Bharata Natyam dance celebrates the eternal universe and the inate beauty of the material body. A distinctive feature of Bharata Natyam dance is the use of expressive hand gestures as a way of communication.The contemporary form of Bharata Natyam evolved during the late 18th or early 19th century.
